odds 'n ends

OK, so I write this weekly column for a local paper and the stuff's not all bad. I thought I'd put it in this blog every week AFTER it's published in the paper and share it with whomever sees this blog. What do you think? Tell me if you want to see the column. Tell me if you don't, and tell me if the whole idea just plain stinks.

Getting started

Today's the day. I'm joining the blogosphere. Many of my friends do it. My own kid does it, so why not me?
This blog's going to be about anything and everything, but I suspect you'll be reading a lot about our new home in Knox County, Tennessee. Though I've lived here just over a couple of months, I've quickly discovered that this county has one of the most openly corrupt governments I have ever seen, and trust me, I've lived in New Jersey, Florida (two separate places), Arizona, Seattle, WA and two places in California. As you can see from my profile, I'm a retired newspaper editor. Many years ago, before I went into Journalism, I was a publicist for Universal Pictures in New York City. Unfortunately, I worked there during a period when their production reel left something to be desired. Hence, I did PR for winners like "Thoroughly Modern Mille," "Winning" (with Paul Newman) and "Sweet Charity" with Shirley McClaine and Ricardo Montalban. And those were the good ones. The same studio did "Traveling Saleslady" with Phyllis Diller and a bunch of Don Knotts biggies. There was this giant loser during my time called "Secret Ceremony" with Elizabeth Taylor and Mia Farrow, and there was "Goforth" with Taylor and Burton.
Anyway, here I am. I'd love to hear from anybody out there who wants to blog with me.
By the way, check out my webside; url is in my profile.
